Allen Jones made a name for himself in the 1960s with furniture in the form of scantily clad women—objects that questioned the line between design and art. The painting Bare Me! is a central work in his œuvre. Pop art has often been criticized for expressing a sexist view of women. Is Jones’s painting an ironic comment, or is the woman in the picture merely an object of male desire?
