Swedish Modernism (Room 23)
Swedish Modernism (Room 23)
From the end of the 1910s, a strong naïvist tradition developed and held a prominent position in Swedish art until the middle of the 20th century. Naïvism flourished in an Arcadian periphery, although the rise of industrial society makes itself known in the background of paintings by, for example, Olle Olsson Hagalund, Axel Nilsson and Sven X:et Erixson. During the Modernist era several strong women artists received attention, among whom Vera Nilsson and Siri Derkert were the most influential.
