The Arosenius Gallery comprises works by Ivar Arosenius, Gerhard Henning and Ole Kruse, who were part of a bohemian group in Gothenburg around the turn of the 20th century. Kruse’s symbol-laden painting The Tree of Life rises majestically in the background. With his burlesque and atmospheric paintings Arosenius enjoys a singular position in Swedish art. In 1903, he traded his bohemian lifestyle for a tranquil family life when his daughter Lillan was born, which is reflected in his art. However, the haemophilia that took his life in 1909 threw a dark shadow over the idyllic family life.
