The Picasso Room (Room 21)
The Picasso collection comprises several works that demonstrate the development of the artist’s style. The Acrobat Family is one of the most prominent paintings from the artist’s Rose period. A drawing and a sculpture by Matisse as well as works by modernist pioneers such as Delaunay, Derain, Kandinsky and Schwitters are also on display. Cubism is carried on in different forms, while at the same time the Fauvists simplify the drawing and heighten the colour and Kandinsky experiments with colours and forms as textures in a piece of music.
