Greta Knutson-Tzara was active at the heart of the Paris avantgarde. For a time she was married to the Dadaist Tristan Tzara. Her idiom is influenced by the styles of the era, such as cubism and surrealism.
Despite her place in the avantgarde, Knutson-Tzara has been somewhat forgotten in Swedish art historiography. Lately she has been the focus of both research and exhibitions. In 2019, the Gothenburg Museum of Art increased the artist’s representation in its collection with a cubist Still Life from 1930.
