Bibliography
Asger Jorn is one of Denmark’s most famous artists of the post-war period. Asger Jorn is the artist name for Asger Oluf Jørgensen. Jorn studied for Fernand Léger in Paris 1936–37 and then at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. 1948–51 he was a member of the international artist group Cobra. During the sixties he participated in the revolutionary avant-garde group the Situationist International. Jorn’s style is expressive with figures or mask-like faces painted in strong colours. In Composition, two strongly abstracted figures are shown in a crowded pictorial space.
