The self-portrait by Tullian Fink is probably painted during her study period for Nils Nilsson at Valand Academy. This early painting is an expressive, intimate study that differs from Fink’s later works. Later in her career, her work became more abstract and graphic in style, moving towards a grey colour scale, often supplemented with elements of collage.
Tullian Fink was a well-known personality in the art scene in Gothenburg, partly due to her writing on art, but foremost for her work as an art teacher and principal at Dômen Art School, which she founded in 1959 and ran for 40 years.
