"Altarpiece" was the name Patrik Andiné gave this mysterious painting, showing a glowing tent in a snow-covered coniferous forest at night. The painting has similarities to the so-called national romantic painting in Sweden at the turn of the century 1900, in particular Gustaf Fjaestad’s images of snow. However, the title rather brings to mind the altar-pieces of the Middle Ages. In contrast to the paintings of national romanticism, the style here is anonymous, without visible brush strokes, which adds to the surreal atmosphere.
