Description
Exhibition History
In the pictorial series I’m thinking of myself, Marianne Lindberg De Geer pastes her own face into image collages with reproductions of artworks, advertising pictures, illustrations and photographs. Many of Marianne Lindberg De Geer’s works have provoked and created debate. Her images are largely built on the element of surprise and on abrupt shifts between the expected and that which we actually see. Our impression of well-known images and artworks changes completely through her bold venture of pasting in her own portrait on top of those of the original main characters. By entering into the lives of others, she explores her own identity, an identification which is the red thread of her project I’m thinking of myself. What does it entail to be human and what would it be like being someone else? Is it sad to want to enter into someone else’s position or status – like idolatry?

Marianne Lindberg De Geer is represented in, among others, Moderna Museet, Stockholm and Norrköping Museum of Art.
