Luciano Minguzzi first studied for his father, who was a sculptor, and later at the art academy in his hometown of Bologna. His international breakthrough came in the thirties. In 1945, Minguzzi formed the artist group Cronache. Three years later he traveled to Paris, where he came into contact with Giacometti, among others.
Minguzzi’s mature style with insect-like figures and wing-like shapes is abstract but always based on a real motif. Recurring subjects are animals and human figures, often depicted in dynamic movement, here in the form of spread wings.
